Critical literacy question: Why are we/you reading this? This is informing us what is matariki and how there are 9 stars in the matariki but in the matamua there are 2 stars missing when you have looked at it. 

 Hello, everyone yesterday we were watching a video in class called Matariki this video was talking about different stars in our galaxy. And it is all about how we celebrate Matariki there are also 9 stars of the Matariki  and they have different names to each star, that is in matariki in the video the person was saying that every year on July we have matariki in the video he was talking about the stars are not all females the Matamua there are 2 stars missing when you are looking at them the eldest of the stars. Are called pohutukawa so that is what we have been learning about in class this week I hope you will enjoy my blog post.

Text Title:  Romeo And Juliet

Text purpose:  This  text purpose is about a play where Romeo and Juliet took play in a play back in the 1595 in the olden days. 

Critical literacy question: What is the text about? How do we know?  This text is about Rome and Juliet play and the text is talking about what we have been doing in class, and the text is talking about when did the author published the first ever Romeo and Juliet play. How do we know? Well we have been doing a play called Romeo and Juliet and reading it in the class room. And in the text stating what we have been doing in class, we have been reading paragraphs from the play in Romeo in Juliet. 

Hello, everyone for the past couple Friday's we have been doing a play for Romeo and Juliet and we had to read the paragraph what we have chosen to play as for the person.  There is a couple paragraphs in the section of the play and we had to read that paragraph on a website named Romeo and Juliet Spark notes during the play if you do not know what is Romeo and Juliet it is a famous play what they have played in 1595 that is when they have published the play, back in the olden days after we have finished the play then we would go on Youtube  and let the video play the first message after that we would then carry on reading the paragraph after the first paragraph has played this is what we have been doing every Friday in Wananga I hope you well like my blog post about Romeo and Juliet.

Text purpose: This text purpose is talking about the environment and how the plastic is killing the whales and the fish, and this is all from people throwing plastic in the ocean and ending up killing the whales. 

Critical literacy: What kind of language does this text use? This language that is used in this text is that,  they have been talking about how the plastic is killing the ocean and the whales. 

Hello everyone in Social Studies we have been watching a movie called Sea Spraicy this movie is all about a documentary film about the ocean and how the environment is going during, the film they were talking about how plastic is killing the fish and whales there was tones of plastic in a whales stomach.  And then there was  tones of whales on the beach this is how. All of the whales are getting killed from the plastic because people are leaving plastic in the ocean, also they are saying during the film that when people are fishing then the nets well end up dropping in to the ocean and it well end up as, a garbage patch so that is what we have been doing in social studies.

A problem that we are having today is that the ocean is starting to, get worse this is because people are starting to throw rubbish on the roads and not putting it in the rubbish bin it is starting to lead to the ocean witch well be starting to kill the whales and fish in the ocean. And when the plastic lands in to the water then the whales or fish would think it's food, for them and they would be eating it and it will make the fish and whales sick in the ocean also the causes and effects for this is that the effects of it would be that if the ocean dies then we die and the causes. Would be is that people well throwing garbage around the country that will lead up in to the ocean and it can kill the fish and whales.

 Hello everyone yesterday in class we were doing a story called Romeo And Juliet and the teacher had to, pick the characters to see who's who and once the teacher has picked the characters then we have to read the sentences what our character is going to say. So that is what we are doing in class this week Romeo and Juliet is all about a Shakespeare's play it was the most popular play back in the days,  I hope you guys well enjoy my blog post about Romeo and Juliet.

Reflection Section

In class today we have been watching a video called Denzel Washington's Life Advice and this is the video was talking about life advice and how it is from now he was talking in the video about not. To give up in the future and to try you're best at your things that you like to do, and it was also talking about in the video where the guy was trying to do what he like's and would be to not giving up and he will keep on going so that is what we have been doing in class today.

Text Purpose: The text purpose of this video is all about taking life advice and then bringing it in to the real, world and it was talking about how he failed his collage but he kept on trying after he failed. 

Critical Literacy: What kind of Language is used in this text?  In the text they have used Motivational Madness in the text, so they were saying to keep on trying if you have failed in the past and you would keep on trying and trying tell you give up.

Metal Reactions

                                                                   Metal + Acid 

In science today we were doing a experiment and we have been learning about Metals and acid and how it all reacts when, we put Metal and Acid together in a tube then after a while it would make a pop sound so we have used magnesium for our metal.  

Equation -   Metal + acid > Metal Salt 

Method -  Light your Bunsen burner  Add your sample of metal to your test tube. Add 2 ml of acid.  Carefully invert the boiling tube above the test tube containing the metal and as shown in the diagram below.  

Conclusion  -   After we did the experiment it made a pop sound. 

                                                                 Glowing Splint 

In science we did another experiment where we had to grab a splint, and then we garbed the splint and light it and put it in the test tube with manganese dioxide in it  once we put that, in there we then put the splint with fire in it with the manganese's dioxide in it after we put it in there it would start to boil. 

Equation -   Metal Oxide + hydrogen Oxide > Metal Peroxide 

Method -  1. Light your Bunsen burner. 2. Add Manganese dioxide to the boiling tube and place it in your test tube rack. 3. Add 2mL of hydrogen peroxide. 4. Light a splint and let it burn for a while. 5. Blow the Splint out and insert the glowing embers into the mouth of the boiling tube. 

Conclusion - After we did this it started to boil when it reacts with the manganese dioxide. 

 

                                                                 Lime Water Test 

The lime water test is where we get test tubes and we well get a hose that well end up moving the, Lime water to the acid after this we well put the lime water in the tube and  it will start to bubble in the tube and it would end up fogging up making more bubbles when we add more acid in it. 

Aim - To Show that carbo Dioxide gas is produced when a metal carbonate reacts with acid. 

Equipment - Two boiling tubes. Delivery tube and bung. Bunsen burner, test tube rack. Wooden splint, a bottle of acid small amount of metal carbonate test tube tongs. 

Method - 1. Light your Bunsen burner. 2. Add a pea sized amount of the metal carbonate into one of the boiling tubes 3. Place this boiling tube into a test tube rack ensure you have the bung and delivery tub e ready. 4. Add 5Ml of acid to the boiling tube and quickly insert the bung and delivery tube into the mouth of the boiling tube. 5. Holding the other boiling tube with your tongs, capture the gas produced as shown in the diagram below. 6. When you think the tube is full, your lab partner should light a wooden splint. 7. Carefully remove the boiling tube from under the deliver tube, taking care to keep it facing upright.  8. Insert the burning splint into the mouth of the test tube.
